Hair growth is influenced by many factors, but mostly by nutrition and hormones. Poor nutrition means hair will grow poorly. Growth in hair varies for different people, but it averages 1/2 inch (1.25 cm) per month. The life span of hair varies and under the control of proteins.

Growing a healthy head of hair really boils down to having a healthy diet. There are many nutritional supplements which provide a combination of ingredients that will work within the scalp; start at the hair roots to help decrease hair shedding, stimulate hair growth and improve fullness. You may want to start with nutritional supplement to help build up and nourish your hair growth. Look for ingredients with amino acids and Biotin-B5-Zinc in these supplements as these ingredients will help pump up your hair follicle's metabolism and promote growth.

Growth occurs in cycles. Each complete cycle has 3 phases that are repeated over and over again throughout your life.

1st Phase: Anagen is the "growth phase" where new hair is produced. About 90 percent of scalp hair is growing in the anagen phase at one time. For each specific hair, the anagen phase generally lasts from 2-6 years, but some cases, it could last as long as 10 years.
2nd Phase: Catagen is the "transitional phase" is the end of the growth phase. Catagen phase is very short and lasts from 1-2 weeks.
3rd Phase: Telogen is the "resting" or final phase where hair is either shed or remains in place until the next anagen phase. When the new hair grows in it pushes the old hair out. The phase last about 2-6 months and only about 10 percent of scalp hair participates at one time. After the resting phase the growing phase starts again. On average, the entire growth cycle repeats itself once every 4-5 years.
Key To Healthy Hair
*To start your hair off to a healthy start, you must trim your hair every 4-6 weeks. There is absolutely no way to repair damaged hair so you need to cut your loses by trimming the ends. Damaged hair will only get worst as time passes. Once the ends of your hair split "split ends", the damage will move up your hair shaft until the entire strand is split.
*Avoid using hot appliances whenever possible. If you must blow dry your hair, allow the hair to air dry first. After the hair is almost dry, then blow dry minimally. If you use flat irons, use ceramic iron because they are healthier for the hair. Make sure to use a good thermal protector to protect the hair. DO NOT use hot styling utensils on a daily basic because this will burn your hair out of your head literally.
*Do not use any harsh chemicals on the hair. There are many colors on the market that don't use peroxide, like CHI Ionic hair
color.
*Make sure to deep condition your hair on a regular basis. Make sure to rinse the conditioner out with cold water. Rinsing with cold water is make the cuticle lay flat and less likely to break. Cold water rinses also adds shine and makes hair easy to detangle.
*A deep soothing scalp massage is very beneficial to your hair because it stimulates the scalp. The stimulation from the massage will cause blood to flow to your scalp.
