Shiny Hair & How to maintain it
Shiny hair depends on the healthy state of the cuticle. The cells of the cuticle are composed mostly of keratin.
Shiny hair can be easily maintained if you learn more about hair characteristics.

The cells form a flat, clear layer that reflects light on the surface of the hair shaft. This reflection is responsible for the hair's shine. When the cells are healthy and shiny, they lie flat and tight along the shaft.

When the hair has been damaged, they stand away from the rest of the hair shaft. Light cannot be reflected evenly when the surface is broken causing the hair to appear dull.

Many things can disrupt the cuticle:
1-Alkaline shampoos-which causes the whole shaft to swell and pushes out the cells of the cuticle, causing them to stand away from the hair shaft.
2-Permanent waving
3-Coloring
4-Sun
5-Rough Brushing
6-Hot-air dryers
7-Blow dry styling
*This leaves holes and pits in the hair making the hair look dull which ruins the shine.
